At times there has been companies coming along trying to rip it off entirely too, like VirtualPilot3D, ProFlightSimulator and others trying to sell copies of it under a different name. What's impressive is that it's been going in some form since all the way back in 1997, and they just keep on improving all the tech behind the scenes. Since the last release there's various launcher improvements, tidal movement is in for the littoral areas close to shore, there's new AI models, updates to a lot of existing aircraft, updated translations, a thread-safe particle manager to reduce crash bugs and lots of other optimizations. Most people interested probably don't stick to the LTS versions, as the in between releases always have the exciting stuff. The flaps lever and flap motor have also received sound improvements. Developed by volunteers, they're trying to make the most advanced flight sim that's entirely free to use. The aircraft has also received new sounds: clicking on the checklist in the pocket by the pilot seat, toggling the control lock, mounting and dismounting the GPS from the panel, opening and closing glove pocket, moving the window latches, and toggling the water rudder cable. step onto the left rudder pedal in case the ball is on the l.h.s. A simple rule says: Step onto the ball, i.e. During turns, you always have to operate aileron and rudder in such a way that the ball in the tube remains centered otherwise the plane is skidding. To be honest the rudder keys on the NUMPAD (INS and NUMPAD ENTER for LEFT and RIGHT rudder) is basically useless, since you can't move the mouse or the rudder gets reset and you can't just focus on the rudder controls or you may crash. This new build with FlightGear 2020.3 is what they're calling a "Long Term Support" release, as they nowadays offer a full stable build and much more regular content updates. It indicates if rudder and aileron s are coordinated. FlightGear is a rather advanced free, open source flight simulator that's very much alive and kicking with a big new release now available. To reverse the direction of an axis you'd need to change the sign of the element and (if the axis doesn't have a symmetric range around 0) the value in the element.
